In 2025, the Port of Norrköping launched a new award: “Port of Norrköping’s Contribution to a Slightly Better World.” Chosen by the company’s employees, the winner was the autism association Vår unika värld (“Our Unique World”). Thanks to the award, the association was able to organize Dream Party — an adapted children’s party attended by more than 50 children.
What started as a small initiative by a few families has quickly grown into a community with over 100 members, creating a safe and welcoming space for both children and parents.
“We started without a real plan — just a strong will to do something for children who are often left out,” says chairperson Malin Sandin.
The association has since organized inclusive activities such as Dream Run, where children participated at their own pace, and continues to receive growing support from local organizations, sports clubs, and companies.
At Dream Party, the venue was divided into different zones with both active and quiet activities, allowing children to participate in a way that felt safe and comfortable.
“The goal is for every child to feel: ‘Here, I can be myself.’”
For many parents, the association has also become an important support network built on understanding and shared experiences.
The SEK 30,000 award from the Port of Norrköping will help fund activities throughout the year — and the association is already dreaming bigger, with plans for future camps and events.
