The award is presented to a company or organization that, within a particular industry or theme, has made outstanding contributions to the external environment during the past year. Behind the award stands Östergötland’s Environmental Network, an organization that works to increase knowledge about ecological sustainability.
The jury’s motivation:
With a strong environmental commitment that runs both top-down and bottom-up within the company. The interest in environmental and sustainability work permeates the entire organization—from the board to the employees—with a shared desire to improve conditions for future generations. Despite its size and scenic location, they have not forgotten our smaller friends. Through fauna depots, a planned coastal meadow, and stone piles, they ensure that—even as they take up space—others are given space too.
It’s a real honour and a bit surprising! We see this as a small contribution to the greater context of sustainability. We never imagined it could earn us an award. A huge thank you to Daniel Andersson, our environmental manager and the driving force behind our work with biodiversity, and of course, a big thanks to Östergötland’s Environmental Network,” says Hans Karlsson, Head of Environment & Quality at Port of Norrköping.
