In connection with the inauguration of the 830 m quay at the Pampus Terminal, Port of Norrköping presented the award “Port of Norrköping’s Contribution to a Better World.” This year’s recipient was the association Autismföreningen – Vår Unika Värld (“Our Unique World”), which was granted SEK 30,000 for its work in creating meaningful activities and community for children, young people and their families.

The award was accepted by the association’s chairperson together with several families. During the ceremony, one of the boys present thanked the audience, a moment that touched everyone deeply.

“We are incredibly moved and grateful for this recognition. The support means a great deal to us and will be used for more activities for children and young people in the association. Receiving the award together with our families makes it extra special,” said the association’s chairperson, Malin Sandin.

Henrik Åkerström, CEO of Port of Norrköping, emphasized the importance of the association’s work:
“By creating participation and joy, Autismföreningen – Vår Unika Värld makes a difference in the lives of many families. With this award, we want to recognize their commitment and help ensure that even more children and young people can take part in their activities.”

About Autismföreningen – Vår Unika Värld

At the beginning of 2025, three families with children on the autism spectrum came together and founded the non-profit association Autismföreningen – Vår Unika Värld. They all felt a great need – and a gap in society – for adapted leisure activities where these children and young people can participate on their own terms, without demands, stress or exclusion. A place where siblings and parents also can gather and feel that they are not alone in their situation.

In April, the association organized Drömkalaset (“The Dream Party”) – a day filled with fun activities for families whose children had rarely, if ever, been invited to birthday parties. The vision is to organize about four events per year focusing on community and activity, ranging from an outdoor day with hot dogs by the fire to a running event like the recently held Drömloppet (“The Dream Run”). Today, the association has about 200 members.
